Created by Mike Fitch after having spent time with different bodyweight training disciplines including gymnastics, parkour, breakdancing, and hand balancing. He meshed elements from these disciplines with his own years of experience in the fitness industry, seeking to create a program that is easily digestible and applicable to the average person’s fitness training. He wanted something that would improve the functionality of the “human animal”, helping participants to become better, more connected movers.
The program combines quadrupedal and ground-based movement. Inspired by, and incorporating, elements from various bodyweight-training disciplines, Animal Flow is a fun, challenging workout that emphasizes multi-planar, fluid movement. Animal Flow can be utilized as a stand-alone workout or as a group class format, and can be integrated into existing fitness routines by incorporating various components for dynamic warm-ups, interval training, circuit training, and skills development.
Animal Flow® is a system that bridges the gap between all other physical practices, in pursuit of previously unknown levels of physical proficiency. From the strength athlete who needs more mobility to the yogi who wants more strength, the fitness enthusiast who wants to achieve their first hand balance, or the older adult who wants more freedom and longevity, Animal Flow provides the shoulders of giants for those goals to stand upon.
The specific exercises that comprise Animal Flow are themselves highly effective examples of various exercise modalities designed to increase mobility, flexibility, stability, power, endurance, skills, and neuromuscular development. Every movement included in the program has a specific function.
